Rep. Gloria Negrete McLeod (D-Chino) released the following statement for the anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act:
"50 years ago today, the Civil Rights Act was passed by the United States House of Representatives and signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson. This law prohibits the discrimination of all kinds based on race, color, religion, or national origin. As we commemorate this anniversary today just days before we celebrate our nation's independence, let us reflect on the progress we as a nation have made and all the work that remains to be accomplished."
